The History of Sun Coast "A" Tennis

In 1984, Norma McAllister led the move to start a new tennis league called Suncoast “A” Tennis (SCAT) to provide local female tennis players with a competitive recreational tennis league for women rated NTPR 4.0 and higher. At that time, Lee County Women’s Tennis League (LCWTL) had three divisions; A, B and C.  The A division wouldn't allow anyone over 4.5 to play nor could a player be a teaching professional. The concept behind SCAT was to no allow the higher rated players to play and to also keep the rules to a minimum.  The league has maintained that simplicity and those cooperative values for 29 years while providing a venue for competitive tennis for higher rated players. Today, one of the original founding members of SCAT, Diane Geater is joined by 124 other women in Lee and Collier counties as SCAT members. The league is continuing to grow adding additional teams  and players each year.
